Grid Soil Sampling

VRT UREA 46-0-0 Application Map   VRT DAP 18-46-0 Application Map

You can accurately utilize the Nitrogen in the DAP, for obtaining your Nitrogen goal, by using an “off-set” Nitrogen Application Map.  By variable rate applying UREA or NH3 on fields that have been applied with DAP to correct Phosphorus deficiencies, you can have a uniform nitrogen application to meet your total “N’ requirements for less cost.

 $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

The above 18-46-0 map had an average spread rate of 195 Lbs./ac; the 46-0-0 map had an average spread rate of 205 Lbs./ac.  Yield goal is 180 bu./ac; total 18-46-0 needed is 26,469 Lbs., Soybean “N” credit is 30 Lbs., and total 46-0-0 needed is 32,071.6 Lbs.

Let’s do the Math?

180 bu./ac yield * 1.2 units of “N”/bu = 216 units – Soybean Cr. (30) *133.58 acres= 24,846 units of nitrogen

Total amount of NH3 typically needed = 15.15 ton * $450/ton = $6,817.50 ($51.04/ac + $4.25 appl. = $55.29/ac)

Total amount of UREA typically needed = 27 ton * $310/ton = $8,370.00 ($62.66/ac + $4.25 appl.  = $66.91/ac)

Total amount of 28% typically needed = 44.37 ton * $220/ton = $9,761.40 ($73.08/ac + $4.25 appl. = $77.33/ac)

Cost of VRT applied Urea using DAP “N” Cr. = 16.04 ton * $310/ton = $4,972 ($37.22/ac + $6.50 appl. = $43.72/ac) cost savings in product of $4,061 ($23.19/ac in product and application savings)

Then you say, “well there is extra cost of the grid sampling and application” well here it is broken out by the acre.

Grid soil testing = $8.00/ ac + 2nd trip VRT application would be $5.50 = $13.50/ac

($23.19 – $13.50 = $9.69)

Savings would still be $9.69/ac * 133.58 acres = $1,294.39 TOTAL SAVINGS!!!!!!!

  • Our VRT Machine has two bins with a Granular bin.

  • This example called for two VRT applications.  We spread DAP and Potash with one application and came back with a second application with the UREA.

  • Not all applications will call for two applications

  • 1.2 units of “N”/bu was used for this example, the average producers usage for this area is .92 to 1.1 units of “N” per bushel

  • Soil sampling fee can be split out for four years at $2 acre per year for four years

Drainage Tile Identification
Drainage Tile

You know you need more tile, but what if there are no maps to guide you in adding to existing lines? We offer you a bird's eye view of your drainage system that will enable you to make the improvements you need to maximize yields.

Under the right spring moisture conditions, tile lines are visible from the air. Using state-of-the-art software, we can digitize aerial photos to create geo-referenced tile maps that will lead a GPS-equipped tiling rig straight to spots where you need better drainage.
