Alex Will Seed Treatments
Alex Will
It’s spring time again and that means it’s time to start thinking about seed treating. Here at CEA we offer many different options for the grower. One Option is Acceleron 109. This productis a fungicide to protect your seed and plant against early season fungus diseases. Acceleron also promotes early season seedling growth. Another option is Acceleron 409, which is Acceleron 109 plus insecticide, which helps control several underground insects that attack the seed and roots. This product also gives us early season control of above ground insects such as bean leaf beetles.
Poncho Votivo is a nematacide that helps control soybean cyst nematodes. We use this product in conjunction with Acceleron 109 and it is effective in areas with heavy cyst pressure in conjunction with cyst tolerant soybeans. We also would like to do some trials in areas that are lower in cyst populations. You may see more yield potential from a non-cyst soybean but still want some protection.
Optimize 400 is the inoculants' that we use. The purpose of an inoculants' is to increase the number of nodules on the soybean root for better uptake of nitrogen. Some Ag retailers in the industry have been recommending double rate of inoculants this year because of the drought conditions in 2012. We have done some follow up research on this and have been told there is not sufficient data to back that up. We do highly recommend using thesingle dose application of this product. We highly recommend the use of soybean treatments, it is a great way to protect the yield/profit potential of your soybean crop.
Nick Meyers FungicideTreatment

As we enter into the growing season crop conditions are something that we keep constant watch. One way to protect the condition of your crop is by the use of fungicides. We use Stratego YLD, from Bayer Crop Science, early season in corn and also late season in soybeans. For tassel applications by air we like to use Headline AMP, from BASF,or Stratego YLD. Priaxor, from BASF, is a new fungicide that we got to try last year on soybeans and we were really happy with the results. This year Priaxor will be limited in supply with it still being a new product, but we will again be using it on soybeans for late post applications either by air or ground. If Priaxor is not available Stratego YLD, or Headline SC are also very good products to use. If anyone has any questions about these products or any other fungicides please contact one of the Sales Agronomist at any of CEA’s locations or myself and we will be glad to help you out.
